Aishwarya Rai's father Krishnaraj Rai's funeral held, celebs pay tribute

 

Actress Aishwaryan Rai Bachchan's father Krishnaraj Rai passed away on Saturday at a suburban hospital in Mumbai. Rai was hospitalised a few weeks ago and later shifted to the ICU. He was reportedly battling cancer.

 

"Aishwarya's father Krishnaraj Rai passed away at the Lilavati Hospital in suburban Bandra," the actress' publicist stated.

 

The funeral took place around 8.30 pm at Vile Parle Seva Sansthan Shamshan Bhoomi where Aishwarya's father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan also offered prayers.

Krishnaraj Rai is survived by wife Vrinda, son Aditya and Aishwarya.

 

Many Bollywood celebrities came to pay their last respects to Aishwarya's father. Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Sujoy Ghosh, Ashutosh Gowariker, Manish Malhotra, Sophie Choudry, Simi Garewal, Sonali Bendre and Kunal Kapoor with his wife Naina Bachchan were by the family's side in their hour of grief. Amitabh's close friend Anil Ambani too paid a visit to offer his condolences.
